Coworking with Erin Grant

The Marketing Brew readers are spotlighted each Tuesday. Introduce yourself here if you want to be featured.

At Sling & Stone, Grant is the US executive. She used to work at companies like Bonobos and Freshly.

What is your favorite project to work on? Walmart's acquisition of Bonobos and Kicks Crew's partnership announcement with Damian Lillard came to mind.

Being able to be at Bonobos during their acquisition made a huge difference in my career as we had to figure out how to get this information across. Being able to help shepherd helped me understand the power of strategic communications.

The combination of sports and sneakers made Kicks Crew a favorite. You see how hard working people are when you work with Damian Lillard. It was amazing to see that play out with our client Kicks Crew. We were very excited to work with the video team on a three part exclusive.

Which ad campaign are you most fond of? The Dr. Rick commercials are great. They are witty and smart, but also real. I would have liked to be a part of that idea when they came up with it.

Which marketing trend do you think is most positive? Is it least? I don't think it's a trend, but I'm happy to see companies investing in top-of-funnel brand activity again. There has been an over proliferation of paid marketing that feels void of what really connects people to brands and keeps them coming back. I'm excited to see more of a desire to get back to that emotional part of the game.

Is there a series you would recommend? Marketers can use HubSpot's social accounts to get helpful data. When it comes to usable content, they hit the nail on the head. They have great content on the latest in PR and tips and tricks. Mike Gelb's The Consumer VC is one of my favorite shows. Over the last couple years, I have had the pleasure of working with him, and I always enjoy hearing what he has to say about marketing, business expansion, and brand.
