D1 Training Appoints Matt Toy as Vice President of Marketing

A leading fitness franchise strengthens its leadership team with a marketing expert.

D1 Training is a leading fitness concept that uses the five core tenets of athletic-based training to help people of all ages, from youth athletes to fitness-minded adults.

Toy was in the marketing department from 2006 to 2012 He helped the brand grow from three to 21 locations and strengthen its brand recognition. In this leadership position, he will be responsible for brand vision, marketing communication, advertising planning, and more. He wants to continue to evolve the D1 brand to be synonymous with excellence in training and business, all while providing increased support to franchisees to help drive led generation

Toy has been watching the team from the sideline since he left D1 in 2011. The brand has developed into an industry leader. As we continue to build the brand to be one of the most recognizable names in the training and fitness space, I am excited to be back and have the chance to take D1 to new heights.

Toy has more than 10 years of experience in marketing and communications. He was part of the team that relaunched the Yik Yak app in 2021. Prior to that, he was in charge of marketing at a university where he helped double the number of students.

D1 wants to award over 100 territories in the next few years, bringing the total number of units in development to over 250. Strong performance accompanies this growth. The average gross revenue for D1 franchised businesses was $870,884, an increase of 8% from the previous year, according to the franchise disclosure document.

Three core training programs are offered by all locations. The five athletic-based tenets are dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cooling down. D1 offers one-on-one training with the world's best coaches.

D1 Training has experienced strong same-store-sales growth over the course of the year as the industry remains strong and there is an undiscovered growth potential in scholastic training.
