First, people. Cox Communications believes in that message and it is also a personal belief for Cuffee- Brown. Along with boundless energy, an inquisitive nature and a love of deadlines, it helps guide her successful career.

Colleen Langner, Cox's executive VP and chief operations officer, said thatKristen has a positive spirit. People love to work with her.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina with a degree in journalism, this Southern California native took a job at a small newspaper in order to pursue her dream of being a broadcast journalist. During the dot-com era, Cuffee-Brown worked for a startup.

Wonder Women of L.A.

She joined the marketing team at Cox in 2005. For 18 years, the company has been Cuffee-Brown's home. Cuffee-Brown began her Cox career as a marketing specialist. She moved up the ranks in marketing over the years. She then joined the content acquisition team.

She negotiates program agreements for genres such as sports, international and faith based. She works on OTT apps.

Customer-Minded Mentality

She keeps her eye on the customer and mixes her marketing expertise with her people-first mindset. In her current role, she is tasked with working across a variety of groups within the organization gathering what is needed to complete deals.

Suzanne Fenwick, senior VP of content acquisition for Cox and Cuffee-Brown's boss, said that she has relationships across the company to successfully accomplish this

According to Fenwick, Cuffee-Brown brings her product marketing experience to everything so she never forgets about the customer and always asks the hard questions.

Cuffee-Brown said it was important to take a step back to make sure Cox continued to deliver for the business.

Cox is a culture that puts people first and that's why Cuffee-Brown is so involved.

She had mentors along the way that encouraged her to grow within her roles and then move up the ladder. She mentors others as well.

Cuffee-Brown said that her work style is to serve others. Showing up and being present is how it begins. It is about being a good communicator and being able to adapt to change. Supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment is what it's about.

Cuffee-Brown served as a Women in Cable Telecommunications (now The WICT Network) board member and a Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) board member. She also informally mentors women and noted that

an informal mentoring style has worked best in her career.

Family First: On and Off the Field

The most important people in her life are her family. The woman lit up when talking about her family. Hawaii is one of their favorite destinations. She said that they are a sports family.

She met her husband at the University of North Carolina where he was a football player. Cuffee- Brown likes tennis. The girls play soccer. A boy plays basketball and football.

She said that her daughter plays soccer in college. We love sports and watch them. Every weekend, we are at a field or a court.

Cuffee-Brown is a person who emulates people first.

She mentors other young women because she wants to see them succeed and she is also an empath. She looks to excel in people.
