The luxury retail sector in Asia, Africa, Europe, the US and South America is expected to grow over the next three years. Growing confidence in rising revenues at their firms was found in the research by Communications Specialist.

Growth in high-net-worth individuals and mass affluent people is the biggest reason for rising sales, according to senior executives questioned for the research.

Sales and margin growth

More than half of executives said improved performance by luxury retailers was due to the Covid-19 epidemic. More tailored offers from luxury retailers for clients are said to be the reason for increased sales.

Almost all of the people questioned think that the combination of factors will lead to higher sales this year than in the past. Revenues are expected to be 50% higher this year.

98% of people think revenues will be higher this year, while 4% think sales will be the same as they were before Covid. They think the market will perform better this year than it did last year, but they don't think revenues will match pre-covid levels.

Research shows that rising revenues are not down to price-cutting. The majority of people think margins will be higher this year than they were a year ago. Up to 40% of people think margins will be higher than before.

The luxury retail sector is on a growth path with the market set to expand by 5.6% a year for the next four years. Executives point to the rising number of wealthy individuals worldwide as well as increasing sophistication and personalization of offers from retailers as reasons for the post- Covid recovery.
