BrandWagon Ad Talk with Myntra’s Sunder Balasubramanian

The case for marketing has been the same as the other industries that have been affected by the Pandemic. Digital marketing is important in order to get new customers and keep existing ones. Industry experts highlight what has changed over the past two years in the BrandWagon Ad Talk series. The chief marketing officer of Myntra talks to BrandWagon Online about the dos and don'ts of marketing.

The launch of brands in the digital era is vastly different than in the past. It's important for brands to understand, measure, and target specific groups. The agility needed to respond to context and customer reach out should be shown. There is more feedback from users on their preferences. Communication strategy needs to be transparent and authentic in order to succeed. The brands need to find a balance between numbers and marketing.

What are the best marketing and advertising campaigns you've seen recently?

Zomato's campaigns are consistent with the tone of their voice and almost always get consumers to smile with their brand messaging which drives the brand's likeability and relatability. The last campaign was very enjoyable.

Which brand has excelled in using digital in the last year?

In the past year, the D2C brands have scaled up their online presence. The two brands that stand out for me are Neemans shoes and Mokabora luggage, both of which are available on Myntra.

What are the do's and don'ts of digital marketing?

The brands need to understand the mood of the audience. Consumers are influenced more and more by brands that operate on aspects such as inclusiveness, while also projecting values that appeal to them.
