THEY WANT YOU, WRITERS! ‘Barstow & Grand’ Now Accepting...

With several issues under its belt, local literary journal Barstow & Grand continues to platform writers from the Chippewa Valley and across the Upper Midwest, and now they are calling on you, local writers.

Barstow & Grand was created by volunteers in the Chippewa Valley literary community and is now accepting submissions for its seventh issue. Thanks to its volunteer-filled masthead, the journal is still edited and created by many people.

The seventh issue of the magazine will be released in early November this year and is open to everyone with words to share.

The author of The MacGuffin, Fugue, and the North American Review has been an editor of B&G from the beginning.

Roughly 20-25 poems and eight to 10 prose pieces, both fiction and nonfiction, have been printed by B&G so far. When other journals only accept 1-2% of the work they receive, we are one of the more accessible writing outlets out there.

Successes are fleeting, no matter how good they are. Is it possible to help build javelins? That's the kind of work that lasts a long time.

Eric Rusmussen is a person.

The editor is Barnes and the grand editor.

While the journal initially only accepted submissions from the Valley, they have expanded to accept works from across the Upper Midwest while still maintaining their mission of supporting local writers.

The years we have put together some marketing to the literary world have attracted a lot of Upper Midwestern authors. The scope of our submitters doesn't affect the quality of the journal. The local issues are just as compelling as the larger ones.

As a long time writer who has received hundreds of rejections of his own work among the published pieces, it is thrilling to be part of emerging writers' journey while building a career, reputation, or body of work.

Dozens of quality stories and poems are published daily. No matter how grand the success is, it is fleeting. Helping build writers is something that could be done. The kind of work that lasts is that.
