Women’s Day: Here's what happened when we asked people to Share The Spotlight (Part Two)

Storyboard18 shows inspiring stories of women who are breaking barriers and setting the precedent for other women.

We invited the business and marketing community to step up and share their spotlight with women in their team or any other team, from a past work place or the current one. Many people came forward to tell the stories of women who worked hard.

It was great to see the community come together and acknowledge the contributions of so many people who make businesses better.

This is just the beginning of a long journey to spotlight individuals who are bringing change and growth to everyone.

Who gave the light to whom? Why.

The Creative Manager of the company shared the spotlight with a group of women. "How do we get people talking about us in a nice way?" was the question that Ankita Chemburkar tried to answer. To key audiences such as consumers, creators, and artists, Mansha Tandon, Group Marketing Manager, was highlighted for leading marketing for YouTube's slate of products in India. Shalini Pillai Banerjee, Head of Gpay and N BU Marketing at Google, was appreciated for her work in developing and managing marketing initiatives that drive customer acquisitions and experiences.

For her understanding of the business nuances, a vast network built over 20 years, and a distinguished approach towards services, she was endorsed by Roshni Rohira. She was appreciated for her persistence.

Prapti Singh, brand and product marketing lead at Uber, was nominated for her empathy and stellar career growth by a former colleague, who is now a brand consultant. Singh believes that a ship is always safe in its harbor, but that's not where it's meant to be. It gave me a chance to play a part in the growth of a once in a generation company because I had to unlearn a lot of things that I was used to.

The Associate Professor and Associate Director Programs at Amity University nominated a woman for the Brand and Marketing function of Dainik Bhaskar. Singh is known for treating everyone respectfully regardless of their position.

Noopur Bapna, Media Manager, Marico LIMITED, is put in the spotlight by Neha Mehta, Content Writer, AD Scholars. She is always up for a challenge and does well when she is on top of her game. Mehta says that her skills are her strength and that she gives people power.

Shalini Raghavan, Group Chief Marketing Officer of Nykaa, Charuati, General Manager at TATA MOTORS and Aparna Thomas, Senior Director, Communications & CSR (India & South Asia) shared the spotlight with Tara Kapur. Digital at the core of how brands connect with consumers is what Raghavan is praised for. Thomas was praised for being an inspiration for younger professionals and for being admired for driving and governing critical customer experience initiatives that impact the voice of customers positively.

The founder of Schbang spoke about the executive vice president who delivered end-to-end solutions for the company. He mentioned Anaa Peshimam, Head of Online Sales, Estee Lauder Companies Inc., for her work at Schbang.

Parama B gave a shout out to Ankita Israney for using digital marketing to disrupt traditional conversations and create intellectual property for brands.

Shalini Bhattacharya, Corporate Communications & PR, LEAD School endorsed a senior brand and social media manager for persistence, adaptability, accountability, proactiveness and multitasking. Brand building is based on consumer insight, data-driven marketing approach, identifying new media basis, and innovative thinking.

Mansi Datta, Chief Client Officer, North & East, Wavemaker, shared the spotlight with Pritesh Chothani, co-founder and CEO HiVoco Education & Learning. Saumya was spotlighted for her contributions to campaigns like the youth anthem "Rise Up, Baby".

Deepthi Nagarajan, Senior Manager, Product Marketing at Freshworks has fifteen years of proven experience in B2B product marketing and demand generation.

The executive director of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network was endorsed by the marketing communications lead of the company.

The spotlight was shared by two people, one was a former colleague of the Chief Marketing Officer at Stoa and the other was a current colleague.

Ragini Das of Leap Club was spotlighted by Akila Jayaraman, Head Sales Strategy, Reliance Jio, as she reinvented social- professional networking for women.

Smriti Raghunandan is the Business Director of The Mavericks and she endorsed the marketing head of the company. She used her passion and skills in writing to bring out value for a brand, cause or campaign.

The Vice President of State Street was highlighted by the VP of Contract Advertising for her expertise in the areas of strategic partnerships, campaign management, and branding. Koshy endorsed the Head of Marketing at Obeetee Carpets for creating a sustainable future through stories of design excellence, quality craftsmanship and process innovation. Building loyal communities that share mutual value in an era of global information overload was one of the objectives of the International Marketing and Communications Manager. Aditi is a digital marketing professional.

The co-founder of Elephant Design highlighted the head of the Communication Design Team for bringing progressive, human-centred thinking to brands and businesses.

Sayan Chatterjee, Manager, Media Communications, Protiviti India Member Firm gave a shout out to Nidhi Madan Verma, Senior Vice President, Acko for her strong track record in devising communication strategies for some of the leading brands.

Aditi was nominated by Soumojit for making a mark in the real estate, technology and corporate communications industries. The CEO of Emami East Bengal has essayed different roles in different organizations. The Meraki Sport and Entertainment was founded by Parekh.

Gaurv Bhatia, CEO, RISE and Deepna Arora, Head - B2B, RISE, nominated KirtIGA Iyer Kale, AVP, RISE for creating a distinct brand voice for RISE.

The spotlight was shared with Parul Chhabra, Vice President Branding and Communication, House of Diagnostics for transforming the PR and branding functions, and increasing digital penetration by adopting new and disruptive ideas. M.A. Nicholas was spotlighted for helping to build Reverie's mission of promoting development of multilingual applications throughout the globe.

Snehi Mehta, Head of Product Marketing, Meta Inc, was highlighted by Manisha Dokania, deputy vice-president of the company.

The spotlight was shared with Liva Emmatty, Account Director, CCgroup - B2B, who created noticeable communication campaigns in the B2B technology domain.

The head marketing at NAVNEET TOPTECH endorsed the Chief Growth Officer and Co-Founder of VouchPro. Gupta De has contributed to the top line as well as the bottom line of many businesses because of her strong numerical prowess.

The assistant editor at The Times of India shared the spotlight with the deputy manager of TOI Brand at Bennett Coleman and Co. Arushi Kaushik, assistant brand manager marketing, Times of India, was nominated for her role in providing innovative solutions for Lowe's.

The spotlight went to Dipti Sudhir for building trusted brands that include new category adoption as well as driving growth on large brands. Helping young women leaders reach their true potential is a personal motivation according to Kharga. Archana Balaraman, Category Manager, Riya Joseph, Head of Media, and Pavni Kumar, Group Product Manager were endorsed by Sudhir.

Nayab Contractor has experience working in television and broadcast media with leading conglomerates in India, such as CNBC-TV18 and Network18, with expertise in brand development, marketing and events. Contractor founded a brand of spices for the US market. She co-founded Indian Food Trail, a food-tech platform that gave micro-entrepreneurship opportunities to Indian women to serve home cooked food to customers in their homes.

Palasha Kumar, Senior Brand Manager at BabyChakra, was nominated by an Advisory Board Member for her demonstrated experience in building brands. Kumar is a yoga teacher and scuba diver.

Ritu Puri, Senior Executive Secretary at American Express Banking Corp. shared the spotlight with Palak Khanna, Chief Executive Officer, Break the Ice, for her achievements including being India's 20 under 20, becoming Regional Officer for Asia Pacific, and being felicitated by The Minister of Civil Aviation for Social Impact is VK Singh. She is a young marketer who is yet to be tapped on. She is a force to reckon.

Sharjil Shaikh, co- founder of Arsh Communications, shared the spotlight with Sheetal Ray, founder and CEO of Arsh Communications, and Nazneen Shaikh, Lead, Corporate Communication, Indian Oiltanking.

The Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Reliance Brands, shared the spotlight with the Johnnie Walker Global Lead for Culture and Entertainment.
