DEVIN WILLOCK AND CHANDLER LECROY WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED – Bulldawg Illustrated

Two sweet souls, a son and daughter, and a University of Georgia football player brought them together as a family.

Two people were killed in a car wreck on January 15, 1943.

There was jubilation for the parade that celebrated Georgia's second straight national title just hours before the fatal crash. The UGA campus is flooded with cold rain water as we mourn the loss of two Dawgs.

I pulled out my computer when I walked into my sport marketing class the first time after the crash. Before class started, I opened the document and wrote a few words. The professor didn't put the attendance code on the screen when he entered the room.

He sat on a stool at the front of the room and said that they wouldn't be taking attendance this week. If you feel like you can't make it to class because you know them or you just need time to digest the news, I understand.

This University has never faced a time like this and there is grief. The school needs time to recover from this loss. There was no outcome on the field, no recruit decommitting, no player transferring or the coach leaving matters. A football team with two members loses. An entire university becomes a family, and an entire fanbase becomes a support staff for their families.

Two people survived the crash, one of them was an offensive lineman named Warren McClendon.

The hometowns of the two survivors are printed on the magazine. Readers of ours know these families. She was my babysitter and she is always a light to everyone around her. From the Athens and Brunswick communities, and from all of Dawg Nation, we send our best wishes to the Bowles and McClendon families.

In the wake of this tragedy, a few lights have shone through the UGA student body, not only memorializing the lives lost but also revealing the loving character of the two people who died.

The Georgia basketball team wore a patch on their jerseys to honor the two people who were killed in the shooting.

Extra Special People (ESP), the student-affiliated, non-profit organization that creates opportunities for disabled children, posted a picture of a man with a few kids after a practice. Denis Willock was a special friend. He was a loving champion for people with disabilities at ESP and will be remembered for that. You will always be remembered for your gentle presence. Our friends honor you today.

She made each and every prospect feel like her own family, according to her obituary. She loved the Georgia football team. She spent as much time as she could to help out the program. Her job wasn't done with recruiting. It was her responsibility to help every single entity in the building, whether that be defensive and offensive support staff, nutrition, equipment, operations or any department that needed a helping hand. She will be missed by every department of Georgia football.

The person who gave his heart and soul on the field was the person who couldn't play football because of their disabilities. As well as giving her heart and soul to Georgia football, she also showed any recruit how much Georgia means to her.

They won't just be remembered with two rings on their fingers, they will be remembered for more than that.

When Georgia football brought them together, they were like everyone they came in contact with, they were so lucky to have them. It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of the two people, Devin and Chandler. The Bulldog Nation will always remember your commitment to the Red and Black.
