Political opponents seized on Mr Sunak's wealth in order to cast doubt on his ability to understand the struggles of ordinary people during the cost-of-living crisis.

Morgan wanted to know if Mr Sunak was rich.
The PM said that most people would consider him to be financially lucky.
He said that people need to know what his values are. That is the most important thing.
I was raised that way. I was brought up by parents who came to this country with an immigrant mindset, meaning that they sacrificed everything so that their kids could have a better future, and that we could fit in and integrate into British life well.

Mr Sunak wondered if he was financially fortunate today. Most people would consider me to be very lucky.

Mr Sunak said he wouldn't get into that.
It doesn't matter how much is in my bank account, what matters are my values and actions for the country.
