The popularity of watchable Podcasts is growing.

20% of weekly Listeners with children say they listen to a lot of shows.

The Fall 2022 Report is a comprehensive evaluation of the podcasts audience. The ninth edition of the study is part of the commitment to share research findings with the community.

According to the report, there is no problem with listening to a podcasts with language or content that is objectionable.

Our new report shows that people are comfortable with the content they choose, so brand safety may be less of a concern.

"Podcasting is a pull medium, unlike push media like radio, TV or even social media," said Jeff Vidler, President and founder of Signal Hill Insights. Listeners choose from hundreds of thousands of podcasts to find the one that speaks to them directly. They know what they're getting into. That means the advertiser can be reassured that the audience approves of their work.

Insights for content creators and advertisers are revealed in the fall edition. Highlights from the report.

Most of the people who listen to weekly podcasts have no problem with the language or content that is included. Only a small percentage of people would turn off the True Crime show if they heard a warning before it started.

More and more people are listening to watchable podcasts. More people prefer to listen in the background and watch video if they want to.

There is no need for a video in all of the podcasts. Audio-only podcasts are still preferred by more than half of weeklyPodcast Listeners still prefer audio-only podcasts True Crime is a good genre for people who prefer audio only.

Listeners co- listen with their kids. Half of the people who listen to a weekly show say they have ever listened to a show with their kids. Some people say they listen to podcasts with their kids a lot.

According to the Infinite Dial study, 26% of the U.S. population listens to weekly podcasts. Those who listen 6+ hours per week are examined in the report as well as when consumers started listening to podcasts.

The report methodology.

The study was commissioned by Westwood One in partnership with Signal Hill Insights. This report includes questions from the first study. A nationally representative sample of 603 adults ages 18 and older who were not employed in the advertising, public relations, marketing, market research, radio, television, digital, or other field spent at least one hour listening to or watching a podcasts within the past week The surveys were done between September 23 and October 4th.
